What would be the state of the race if Gary Johnson now says: "The fact that we have not been invited in the debates led Bill and me to the decision, to suspend our campaign because we have no path to win".

What would happen with the Clinton-Trump race? Does Stein gain? Or Castle?

Clinton would likely gain the most due to disgusted NeverTrump Republicans switching to her.

I don't seen many #NeverTrump Republicans in the Johnson camp, to be honest.  Many of those folks are Neocons, who are probably with Hillary already.

If he didn't pull out in 2012, why would he pull out in 2016 when even with the lack of debate exposure, he'll almost certainly do better this year than then.  It's not as if he entered this race thinking he'd magically make it to 1st place. The only magic libertarians believe in is the magic of the invisible hand.

Not all of them are neocons. I know a bunch who are with Johnson because of Trump's bigoted rhetoric.

Why would he? 5% gets the LP a lot of public funds for 2020 (which I know is maybe hypocritical to libertarianism, but it's the only way to compete as we've seen).

Johnson is unlikely to drop out, but if he did. Stein and Castle would get a slight bump, but most of his supporters would just not vote or write in a fictional character.

I heard a interview the other night with Johnson, he said if he chooses to drop out he
would be out helping Hillary, because he really dislikes Trump. He said he didn't
like all of Hillary's policies but he respects her.
