Inspired by lok pointing out how bad it has gotten. I'm leaning yes. A new start would likely stop the pointless arguments clogging up the gallary.

Honestly, who would've thought a thread dedicated to posters describing other posters posts as 'absurd, ignorant, bigoted and plain awful' would ever cause any fights... I mean, the idea...

Eh, but it wasn't bad until a string of arguments happened and made shouting about things the norm for the thread.

Maybe so, but I mean you should expect that to happen - people don't like having their output (such as it is) labelled 'absurd, ignorant, bigoted and plain awful', something that by extension reflects upon themselves. Of course they're going to punch back, especially if it's against a poster they have a feud with.

My view is the thread serves no positive purpose - criticism of these posts can be given in the threads they originate in, as opposed to having one massive chain of sh**tposting clogging up the forum community. At least the comedy goldmine focuses on something actually positive, humour. The landfill is just that, a skip full of rubbish.

Why not, but I think people who instigate things like that should at least be mentioned as well.  Won't hurt my feeling any.

A new thread isn't going to do anything guys. People will just start an argument in the new thread as easily as they did in the last. What needs to be done is moderation. People won't follow the rules unless they are enforced, and a moderator would need to do that. Personally I think it's a fine idea for certain "galleries" in this section to be given special rules that would actually be enforced, but whether TJ, Cathcon or afleitch want to do that is anyone's guess. Perhaps if they don't, someone else could be added for that job.

Anyways, just a thought.

A new thread isn't going to do anything guys. People will just start an argument in the new thread as easily as they did in the last. What needs to be done is moderation. People won't follow the rules unless they are enforced, and a moderator would need to do that. Personally I think it's a fine idea for certain "galleries" in this section to be given special rules that would actually be enforced, but whether TJ, Cathcon or afleitch want to do that is anyone's guess. Perhaps if they don't, someone else could be added for that job.

Anyways, just a thought.
