Yes/Leave/No (but I can sympathize with them if they do it). Supported yes in the first independence referendum just because I was afraid Scotland would prevent Brexit from ever happening.

How were they "stabbed in the back" though? Would be pretty undemocratic if they got to decide whether the English, the vast majority in the UK, should stay in the EU.

Strong No/Soft Remain/Strong No

I think the UK needs to move towards a more federal system and perhaps move towards a democratic House of Lords that gives Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland a bit more say (but certainly not equal representation like the US Senate), but I think it would be extremely foolish to end one of the world's oldest and most successful political unions over Brexit.

To be honest, the whole idea that dramatic changes like Brexit or Scottish independence can be decided with a 50% +1 vote is ridiculous. These changes are equal to constitutional changes in the US, and I do think anyone thinks that we should be able to change the constitution with a simple majority in a nationwide referendum.

They voted "no" with the unspoken understanding that the UK wouldn't leave the EU.  The independence referendum really should've been scheduled for about a month after the Brexit vote.

The "No" campaign did make the assertion that the UK leaving the EU was basically an impossibility.

Anyway, hard no/hard remain/lean no. Have to balance out between a desire for Scotland to reenter the EU and the likely reality that this wouldn't be guaranteed and an independent Scotland would probably have a much leftier center of political gravity than the UK as a whole did, which would not thrill me if I were Scottish. I remain convinced that the UK will seek re-entrance into the EU within 10-15 years anyway considering the ludicrous generational gap on that question and the likelihood of Brexit being viewed as disastrous, so most likely I'd remain a very reluctant "no to Scottish independence voter". Voted No/Remain/No.
