The Coburn amendment to revoke pork projects went down in flames 15-82 in a Senate vote yesterday. How can either party claim even some remote semblance of fiscal discipline and responsibility?

Here are the 15 yes votes:

Allard (R)
Allen (R)
Bayh (D)
Burr (R)
Coburn (R)
Conrad (D)
DeMint (R)
DeWine (R)
Feingold (D)
Graham (R)
Kyl (R)
Landrieu (D)
Sessions (R)
Sununu (R)
Vitter (R)

I agree.  Bayh made the smart move in this case, as did Allen, imo.

I wouldn't support anything done by freakshow Coburn, no matter how sensible. If he issued a proclamation saying that "Democracy is the best form of government", I'd oppose him even though he's right. He is a dangerous demagogue who needs to be watched for potential subversion.

I approve of the idea of reducing pork projects.  That said, the pain should be spread throughout the states.

Dailykos was for the Coburn amendment.  The consensus there is that Coburn is a crazed lunatic, but even a broken clock will be right twice a day.

I am disappointed that only 15 Senators supported this amendment, and only 4 of them were Democrats.  This definitely makes me more likely to support Feingold at the 2008 caucuses.

That comment might actually have some merit.

I think John Sununu would make a great president.

Another example of the irrationality of the left.

Yes, the liberal media hadn't given McCain orders on how to vote on this one.
Good, no McCain.
