lol. That'd be pretty funny. I could see him throwing Holy Water at the move screen, but secretly wishing he was the main character.  Smiley

This movie has a good chance to become a national scandal.

Not really, since I doubt it will have high ticket sales.  After all, a chick-flick is a chick-flick, and most guys won't go to see it, especially when their wives won't be dragging them along with them.  I bet Michael Moores fiction movie will end up with higher ticket sales than this pony boy movie.

I went to a theater in Norwalk CT and all tickets were sold out. So I had to go the next day.
I assume that this is not the situation in Alabama.

That's because it is in only 484 theaters in the US.  With so few theaters showing it, limited screenings, and a lot of media hype, initial ticket sales will be high.  However, it doesn't have much in lasting ability once/if it hits all the theaters.

I assume that this is not the situation in Alabama.

In Alabama they're busy watching, oh, King Kong or Narnia. Assuming they're not watching 50-year-old classics on DVD Tongue.

You know, Hollywood revenues are dropping like Wile E Coyote after he falls over a cliff. The fact that they make 'liberal', 'cultured' movies is perfectly fine, but sometimes some good old fashioned red-meat movies are the way to go (or even those SFX-heavy plot-poor humdingers). Some people don't want a complex or moving moral message in every darn movie they watch: they just want something that goes well with popcorn and a date. And no, I don't think Brokeback Mountain sounds like a good date movie, at least not for straight folks like me Tongue. Also, it would be nice if the messages weren't 95% from one side. An old quote from a movie studio producer was "If you want to send a message, call Western Union." The corollary to that is, "but if you do want to send messages, don't make it the same darn message every freaking time!"

What's wrong with 50-year-old classics on DVD?

And what's wrong with Narnia?  It was a fantastic movie, and I can't wait for them to produce the other 6 books. Smiley  I sent the full collection of books to my friend in the Philippines, since Narnia doesn't open out there until next month (give her a chance to become familiar with the material).

Why are you assuming I am being negative on Alabama? I'm saying that those Alabamans aren't gonna go for a movie like 'Brokeback Mountain'! Tongue

Note the SMall area of land occupied by the negro-haters. HatesRights would be holed up in Central FLorida crying like a little baby of the CONFEDERATE plutocracy. I would be leading UNION!!!!!!!!!!111# troops through the marshes recruting former slaves, who would march down to Jesus-loathing Flroida and kill him, along with other members of the UNiON hating planter aristocracy

This topic is stupid bullsh**t. Of course I, the Prince, would win. I hate you HATESRIGHT, and I would love to kill you with an ABRAHAM LINCOLN STATUETTE!

GOD LBESS THE UNIOn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!32

In the mean time I read that a movie theater in UTAH cancelled the screening of Brokeback Mountain.

A friend of mine from Sweden asked me about this cancellation.
“Are you Americans retarded?” she asked.
“America is culturally divided into two countries” – I wrote to her. “And this division is more or less identical to the political division. In Norwalk CT where I went to see this movie, I could not get a ticket and I had to go the next day, one hour before the start of the movie.

Wow, people went to the movie theater.  What a bunch of open-minded mavericks they all must be.

She had to come back the next day because it's the only theater in the area showing the movie, and it's only showing it twice a day.  *laughs*

If it wasn't for all the dumb media hype in the news, this thing wouldn't be showing at the 500 theaters it is currently at.

Machiavelli made me laugh out loud all the time.

My favorite part was how he could not write the word "union" without putting it in ALLCAPS with a few billion exclamation points after it.
