As the bill has now passed with a majority vote, I will now officially sign this bill into law.

I say we create a "Gazette of Laws" in the constitution thread, but not on the actual constitution site. Create a new site especially for new laws Smiley

So what's been passed now? A runoff between the top two or the Single Transferable Vote?

Preferential voting, which I'm pretty sure we are defining as identical to STV.

I thought we were doing IRV Undecided

What's the difference between STV & IRV?

Could the Senate please debate and then vote on the following Bill?

RUNOFFS

If no candidate gains a majority plus one of the popular vote in any election, a runoff election between the two candidates that polled the most votes shall be held a week later

This is the bill, right?

Uh, no, it isn't.  If you read through the thread, what was eventually voted on and passed is a preferential voting bill, not the runoff bill as originally proposed.

Sorry, I think I got it right now... Smiley

I posted the bill on the constitution thread. You should all check it out and tell me on this thread whether you're happy with it.
