In Andrew Sullivans recent column, he has made some very interesting points particular regarding the republican strategy and hillarys position.

On Hillary, Iraq and democratic nomination
Clinton, the Democratic presidential frontrunner, has to my mind the most coherent posture. She sticks with her decision to vote for the war, places responsibility for its chaotic management where it belongs (the president), and warns against a premature exit. But for this utterly reasonable stance she found herself booed and heckled at a Democratic party event, and has seen her ratings slide behind John Edwards, Kerry’s running mate in 2004, in some polls of the Democratic base.

On Karl Rove
His crude strategy of covering incompetence by throwing accusations of weakness and surrender at his opponents may well be effective. Remember how he managed to turn Kerry, a Vietnam veteran, into a coward and liar about his own war record, while portraying a man who essentially ducked his duty into a symbol of military valour? He knows which levers to pull, and he isn’t ashamed to do what’s necessary.

Dick Cheney and Roves strategy on democrats
The strategy adopted by Dick Cheney, the vice-president, and Rove is clear: ignore all the empirical reality in Iraq, hope for the best, and bash the opposition as weaklings and defeatists. Last Thursday Cheney did his usual subtle routine: “The worst possible thing we could do is what the Democrats are suggesting,” he thundered. “No matter how you carve it — you can call it anything you want — but basically, it is packing it in, going home, persuading and convincing and validating the theory that the Americans don’t have the stomach for this fight.” Translation: the opposition are wimps.

Sullivan a conservative?   Yeah right.  Supported Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004 - a real conservative alright.

Ever since Bush came out against gay marriage Andrew has had his panties in a wad.  If only Bush had come out in favor of Andrew's right to carry his dream mate across the threshhold.....  That issue now colors everything Sullivan says about Bush.

However, Andrew is good for a daily laugh.

Andrew Sullivan is probably my favourite online opinionist. I read his site each day and I find myself in broad agreement with 90% of what he says and how he argues his case. Of course he is partisan; every opinionist is, but he has a good strong grasp of the facts. He also shows that you can be gay and you can hold conservative views (or vice versa) without feeling as if you are in the 'wrong side.'

Agcatter: Sullivan did not support Gore as far as I am aware in 2000, though he has admiitted that he very nearly did..

The guy is no conservative.  He claims he is because he fancies himself as some kind of fiscal conservative.  If you read his views, he's become a flaming lib.  A pure social liberal and has become over the last several years (since Bush shunned him on the issue of gay marriage) a blame America ala Michael Moore type on foreign policy.

I believe that was the case. Mind, I don't recall O'Sullivan's endorsement of Kerry being exactly ringing
