The Bronx is gentrifying right before our very eyes.  It's even starting to make its way towards to the really bad parts.

That East Moline?  We actually drove through East Moline a couple of weeks ago when we exited for fuel from IH74 just after getting across the river bridge.  And I must say I wasn't that impressed.  And in fact, except for their wonderful roadside rest areas, my wife and I were thoroughly put off by what we saw of the entire state.  (The Illinois rest areas, of course, are the best in the nation.  On my last trip I saw a common water snake, an Eastern Bluebird, several cats, and a huge frog.  They're like a goddamned zoo, except free.  Also, they have slides and swings and see-saws.  Louis loved that.  And very clean bathrooms.  But I digress.)  East Moline is unimpressive, but at least your photo is a realistic and representative of what we saw there.  The Bronx, on the other hand, is somewhere I have always enjoyed visiting.  I remember I rode around the Bronx regularly on my bicycle the summer I lived in Manhattan.  Don't get me wrong, I like dodging the traffic better in Manhattan than in the Bronx, but I do enjoy hanging in the Bronx.  In fact, I think I went on and on about the Yankees games I attended and how exciting they were.  Also, there was that weird "Slow Rider" moment I had in the park just across from Yankee Stadium.  It must have lasted forever.  Like a nine-second orgasm.  That good.  Well, not really, but pretty good.  I know I must have mentioned the "Slow Rider" day here, because during that period I was spending about an hour every day at the Columbia main library posting on this forum.  Mostly just to beat the heat.  Our tiny little 16-th floor Manhattan apartment wasn't the best place to be at 3:00 in the afternoon.   And certainly, at some point, I must have mentioned the freaks and those two nice puertoriquenos who burned a joint with me during my very first trip to the Bronx some 15 years ago.

Bronx, for sure.

Ah, sh**t.  I see it's newburgh.  You sig is very misleading.

Well, I don't know newburgh.  But I'll take Bronx over East Moline.

The bronx.  A friend of mine owns a lovely apartment complex down there, and it is quite clean and relatively crime-free.

Considering the one in your signature looks abandoned I'd choose it as death would not be imminent
