So I take it, judging by the lack of activity in this thread, this didn't end up happening (seriously, I've been out most of the day, somebody update me).

If so, I would be shocked to learn that some VP speculation could be overhyped.
Nice dead-pan... Seriously, it appears that Obama's campaign is postponing the VP announcement until August 17th. The clues were convincing -- but not conclusive.

In all fairness to this 7-page thread, IF he had firmly decided on Bayh then announcing today would seem far more logical than announcing right in the middle of the Olympics. Therefore, it would seem rational to assume that Obama is still undecided and actually needs this extra 7-10 days to make up his mind (rather than just stalling for PR purposes).

But I'm sure someone will start a new 15-page thread soon discussing how the astrological signs are pointing to an imminent announcement.

What's so special about that date? The Olympics don't end until the 24th.

He and his family are going on vacation in Hawaii this weekend, and they don't get back until Aug. 16th.  So unless he does it today or tomorrow (unlikely at this point), Aug. 17th is the earliest realistic date it could happen.

I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet. It makes me almost certain he'll be picking Bayh.

It certainly confirms he's a top candidate for it, but I still think the candidate can and often will change his mind even after this level of preparation.

I hope he doesn't change his mind. I want that Senate seat.

Even though this turned out to be a fluke, I still think Obama will pick Bayh in the end.
