McCain

The

Martin Luther King Jr holiday
The Bush tax cuts
Roe v Wade
Campaign finance
Raising taxes to fix social security
Torture
The entire religious right
Ethanol
The estate tax
His comments about Hillary

etc. etc. etc.

Not to be disputatious, but I will, I don't think McCain has trimmed much on any of the above except the MLK Birthday, and the Bush tax cuts, and even on the latter he is consistent in the sense he was and is opposed to enacting them, but opposed once enacted to repealing them, since business needs consistency. It's disingenuous probably, and somewhat of a tortured construct, but consistent.

On the religious right thing, McCain just lost his temper at one point with Robertson and Falwell, because he blamed them wrongly for the black love child smear.

Well, then perhaps Barack should select Mitt as his VP.  They can run as a team of "change."  This may be confusing, however, as McCain has made a lot of "changes," too.  McCain HAS waffled around on Roe vs. Wade.  In the 2000 campaign he stated that he was against abortion but would not repeal it.

Aides later tried to retract the statement as it contradicted statements he had made earlier.  Oops.

These days, though, McCain seems to be back to his supposedly original position.
