Yes. I'm not going to name names but even here on this forum we've had people of a type who a few months ago were claiming that gas would be $7/gal about now, and are now claiming the Dow is going to hit below 4000 soon or something of the like.

Nothing wrong with being concerned but taking a knee-jerk always assuming the worst possible scenario isn't any more informed than keeping your head in the clouds and being an optimist no matter what.

Yeah, but they're not nearly as bad as "the good old days" people. Things were so much better when we had polio and sharecropping Roll Eyes

I'm sorry to be a chicken little, but I see nothing to really prevent a 4,000 Dow...

And I hate the opposite, people that think Obama taking over for Bush is going to send the Dow skyrocketing to 20,000 reduce unemployment to 0 and end all overseas involvement

If the economy didn't force the energy bubble to collapse we could've easily seen $6.00 gas by next summer. And nothing prevents the Dow from falling further. We're about to go through a brutal next few months for retail. More banks might bite the dust. The Big Three are dying. The Dow certainly hasn't hit its low point.

If by "people" you mean the wretched, soul sucking, self-loving media then yes I totally agree.

I've recently been thinking that the Greens are currently the only party using the politics of fear - which they usually complain about Conservatives using.

It could honestly go anywhere from a mild recession to being 1929 v2. It all depends on how the financial house of cards crumbles.
