Kerry does. He talks in his ads and acceptance speech about an American that relies on it's ingenuity "not the Saudi Royal Family". You think if Bush was serious about fighting terrorism he'd quit being nice to the biggest terrorist sponsoring Islamist state on Earth.

But no. Bush still has very close ties with the House of Saud. Does Bush care about maybe not being friendly with them anymore? Frankly I think the correct way to deal with the Saudi Royal Family would be to have them over on some dipolmatic visit, then have the troops machine gun them all to shreds.

And don't bring up ANWR, there's not enough oil there to last a year. What's Bush's plan to make it so America is not dependent on his good friends the House of Saud?

He has, and it covers all three phases:

Near term - the administration is working on legislation to push hybrid vehicles onto the market sooner in order to cut fuel consumption.

Mid term - Bush's energy bill which is being recycled through Congress again is looking to open up ANWAR for drilling as well as doubling our domestic refining capabilities (one of the big reasons why our gas costs are so high).  Another proposal in the bill is to standardize fuel grades across the country to increase current refining capabilities as well as lower prices/emissions.

Long term - Bush has provided (so far) $1.2 Billion for Hydrogen research, both for fuel cell development and Hydrogen reclamation.
