Ala Drudge- Cheney says in a recorded interview to air Monday BC04 will win 52-47%.

That in itself is not particularly important. More interesting is why Cheney would provide an exact prediction at all- rather than just saying he would win.

There are several possible reasons, but it seems the most likely revolves around the theoretical "landslide faction," which supposes some undecideds will go with the person they think is ahead/going to win.

At any rate, all these BC officials speaking very specifically on what they think will happem strikes me as a little odd.

I'm a bit suspicious; it could be puffery.  There's nothing to loose if Cheney says it.

Why not motivate your supporters by saying it's going to be a 1 point win? That's why that explanation seems off.

Give them a little more confidence; 5% is a bit much.

I thought your prediction was for Bush to win by 10 points.

Wow, I feel better now Smiley

We all know Cheney is not a liar, so we can just call the elections off and have 4 more years with Bush.

This is a sign of DESPERATION. For Cheney to come out and spew this BS is nothing more then desperation from BC04 campaign.

It depends on how the question was phrased.  Was it "Do you think you will win?"  Or was it "What do you think the final results will be?"

Yeah, I take this stuff with a grain of salt. Every campaign thinks it's going to win.

It's usually desperation if you're obviously behind and general encouragement if you're not behind.

We'll know someone's in trouble when an internal leak says they're going to lose.
