Go.

The only thing I could really come up with is that he would pass "the beer test."

He's a white, non-Mormon male with "personality."

Ooh, that's a good question. Maybe because when the economy goes belly up the electoral appeal of political thugs sometimes increases?

Though as far as this place goes, Christie is closer to the mean Republican poster (cheap jokes for sale!) than any other candidate, therefore clearly he must be like, totally covered in pixie-dust or something. Kind of like with Obama here back in 2008. Actually exactly like that. Which is a little strange.

Blunt. Seen as a problem solver/no nonsense.

Cowards ought to just name the people they're referencing, Al.

Looking back to the Reagan years, there was this sense of no-nonsense leadership. Years of talking about "peace" with the Soviets led to calling them what they were, predicting their demise, and not giving two craps about them. Calling them an Evil Empire and even making off-color jokes about "bombing them in 5 minutes". The ATC strike led to Reagan simply saying, "Go to work, or you're fired." It's a matter of no-nonsense leadership.

I envision the 2010s decade if it were the Christie Era as a time when Washington was literally shook up and no-nonsense conservatism in true Reagan form (the Bushes were nothing like Reagan) was returned.

Christie would have to tread carefully with his attitude.  He may be able to get away with talking down to residents of New Jersey but he could do that to the wrong person who could shout Christie down.  It would be a bad, no-win situation for Christie

Christie would have two options
1.  Keep the prissy attitude and yell at the person in an ever increasing manner and look like a jackass
2.  Shutting up and looking like another weak conservative

A necessary condition is, actually, wanting to run for president - and that seems to be lacking.
