Realized today... Romney is going to win the GOP nomination, it has been that way since he declared... media takes down one anti-Romney after the other

I was a sore winner when I thought Newt was going to do it, I will not be a sore loser now- I hope our party unites around Romney to defeat Obama. Conratulations Politico, you got your wish

I've tried not to be overconfident, but I've felt for quite a while now that Romney was going to be the nominee. The only time I actually had a concern was when it was rumored Christie was considering a run. Some panicked during the rises of Perry, Cain, and Gingrich, but I knew they all just had too many weaknesses to be able to stay on top for very long.

Romney certainly isn't the most loved GOP candidate, but each day, more and more Republicans are beginning to see that, while he's not the perfect, conservative candidate, he's the only person in this field who could pose a threat to Obama's reelection.

Disagree entirely with your last statement.... but if he's the nominee, I will support him

I think most Republicans agree with me on that

President Romney will make all of us proud. He's a good guy, not the caricature some people try to paint him as, and he will do a great job as president.

Like Mitt says, the 21st century will be an American century. Things are going to get better.

So you are saying you are willing to look past him being a flip flopping opportunist who has more positions than the Karma Sutra* just becuase he could possibly beat Obama?

*If you doubt this at all just say so and you can be provided with with plenty to backup this claim.

Romney is about the right results. Do you want the right results, or do you want four more years of Obama?

I never doubted Romney, though I'll hold my full jubilation back at least until Iowa.

Mitt Romney has had a mixed background on gay rights, but that is an issue not extremely pressing to me in this election. On abortion, I guess it's a matter of differing opinions, but I honestly don't believe Romney switched his position for political reasons.

I think Romney's flip-flopping concerns pale in comparision to the problems other GOP candidates would have against Obama (Perry - talking in general, Bachmann - self-explanatory, Paul - views considered very extreme to many Americans, Gingrich - establishment, affairs).

Fortunately for Romney, economic issues will be large, and in terms of the economy, he's the Republican's best bet against Obama.

Yeah, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's still over two weeks away, which is a lifetime in politics.

The Kama Sutra doesn't actually have all that many "positions" in it, so I'm totally willing to believe that.

As much of a flip-flopper Romney has proven himself to be, it could be that he was always a conservative who had to massage his positions to fit the liberal profile of Massachusetts when he was running for governor there, and that now he is simply returning to his Mormon roots -this, according to a Times cover-story I read recently that had the title 'Why Don't They Like Mitt?'.
