I thought Romney gave a fantastic speech from NH tonight.  I had a raging hard-on almost the entire time.  I even had to change my underwear when it was over.  Well, okay, I changed my underwear because we ate a pizza buffet and it gave me bad gas and my undies were starting to get a nasty funk and I didn't want the smell to rub off on the sheets, but anyway I really liked Romney's speech.  He only mentioned other republicans once, and even then not by name.  Mostly he attacked Obama, and did it with some great lines.  "If you want a candidate who can make the most promises of government solutions, then I'm not the man you want.  You already have that president."  And, "I've seen lots of change, but very little hope."  Awesome.

It was also very, very Republican.  God and the Flag.  I was moved.  I actually found myself applauding, at home, from my big comfy recliner.  I could see him giving Obama a run for his money.

What say you?

Better than usually, but also crafted long in advance and practiced all week for this forgone conclusion. The Romney on his feet is closer to the Iowa speech.

Romney doesn't give a great speech, but he can deliver a solid B.

That occurred to me as well.  Still, it was delivered with sincerity, confidence, and optimism. Optimism was Reagan's advantage after four years of Carter Malaise, and it may just play well in our current climate.

Sorry. Not buying it. To me, it seemed long-winded and lacking of the general requisite enthusiasm of a 1st place finisher.

It was just a list of generic right-wing platitudes.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

I had a strange urge to sage it.

I feel vindicated.  Commentators of all political persuasions are eating it up.

Jennifer Rubin, in today's WaPo, writes that it was his "best speech so far."

Jeff Zeleny, of NYT, emphasizes his "pointed message to his fellow Republicans...  His words were directed squarely at Newt Gingrich," but goes on to say that he "quickly set the tone of the night, accepting victory and delivering a speech with broad themes of the general election"

Even the crotchety Wall Street Journal says that Romney's "granite statement" met expectations.

Also, on the PBSNewshour replay late last night, both Shields and Brooks said that it was his best speech of the cycle, and that he came off a general election candidate rather than a primary candidate.

For those who missed it, Politico presents the text here, along with a video:
