Richius, I have a question. Please don't take offense, this isn't meant in a smart-alec way.

When you go out with another bloke how do you decide who pays, opens the door, etc.?

You pay for your women?  Me too!  I hate that traditional dating with the man paying for everything.  How lame and hypocritical.  My way is much more honest.  If there's a pretense of mutual affection, go Dutch.

But regarding Richious the 'top' and 'bottom' question was about who prongs who, not who opens the door.

I meant pays for dinner, the movie, etc., I wasn't reffering to prostitution.

Yeah, I know that.  And my point was - not much difference!

I always split the cost on dates. Only once have I paid for the girl and that's because she was broke. Also once the girl paid for me because I was broke. I guess I would have no problems being gay.

Good man!  I always did the same, back in the day.  Any girl that expects you to pay is not worth your time anyway.  Might as well go get the real thing if its going to be that way, eh?

With a girl I always pay for her.

With a guy I split I pay for my own, and he pay for his own.

I don't have much money and neither do most of the girls I date. It's only fair.

of course about half the dates I've been on have just consisted of going to an illegal keg party (only costs a $5 cover charge) then getting drunk and making out in the corner.

*shrug* Women like it.  Women like men that treat them with respect and in a way that makes them feel special.  They like it a lot.  I don't suppose you'd know that, but it doesn't change reality.

Guys are not like that.  Guys just want sex.  Most of the time.

Yes, I'm well aware that women like to be paid/supported, and often wish to be convinced such material support will be ongoing, while men like sex.  These are the basics of sexual politics.

Actually I respect your right to be disgusted by anything you like, however innocuous.  My only objection would be if you think there is anything grander than personal taste behind your critique.  Homosexuality and bisexuality are no worse than heterosexuality, you just happen to dislike them.

I can't tell how damned disgusted I am at the way this thread has been hijacked.

How in hell did a thread about "Best African Rulers"--a good one in that it makes us look at an otherwise politically forgotten continent--degenerate to one about forum members' sexual habits?

If you're not interested in the topic, don't make comments in it. Or, at least, steer the thread something that's not puerile.

I think that the badge in State's sig is from the 1958 AL Gubernatorial race when Wallace lost to a KKK supported candidate.
Could be wrong though.

Sexual behaviour is a lot more interesting than 'best african rulers'.   But to steer it a little closer - Africa is home to some really strange sexual behaviours, some of which are practiced by rulers.  They say one reason hiv is so prevalent in Africa is that people introduce astringents and sometimes sand or dust into the vagina because they prefer 'dry sex'!

This is exactly what I was going to say, especially since I created this thread. I don't oppose people discussing whatever they want to discuss, but that's the reason why threads exist.

So, returning to the original topic of the thread, this is my list (not in order):
South Africa: Frederik de Klerk and Nelson Mandela
Botswana: Sir Seretse Kama and Qett Masire
Tanzania: Julius Nyerere
Uganda: Yoweri Museveni
Ghana: Jerry Rawlings
Senegal: Leopold Sedar Senghor, Abdou Diouf and Abdoulaye Wade
Mozambique: Joaquim Chissano (in the last three years)

And I'd add Kagame to that list like I mentioned at the beginning. He's the man most responsible for stopping the Rwandan genocide, and played a major role in removing Idi Amin and Mobutu Sese Seko, two of the worst tyrants on the continent. He also actually lived up to his promise after taking control of Rwanda that they would assist in any similar situation by sending a lot of aid to deal with the Sudan crisis.

Yes, although he's still very controversial because of him sending the Rwandan army constantly over the border in Congo. I actually support him trying to fight the guerrillas that want to continue the killing in Rwanda, but it can degenerate in something worse since several other countries are siding with the Congolese government.
