It's as if his campaign scoured liberal websites to see what they were calling conservatives to come up with their adverbs. Next he'll be calling himself "far-right" and "bat-sh** insane".

Who would self-describe their own philosophical views as "severe" with a straight face?

Tired candidates pretending to be more ideological than they are say the funniest things.

"I consistently applied conservative principles as governor of Massachussets."  Ok, fixed now. MIttens is not very sensitive to the connotations of words. A severe conservative sounds like a Grinch.

This whole jihad in painting Mittens as some sort of moderate with some liberal tendencies is just hilarious. I may be; he isn't. What he does have is a moderate temperament, which sets him apart from his Pub rivals, and in particular two of them.  It is a pity that Mittens has to pander this way.

Did I ever mention just how totally disenchanted I am with playing this ideology game, tossing around words which are either vague around the edges, or sometimes have close to no content at all? Ideology will not solve what ails our nation. That Pandora's Box is just so empty. Only pragmatism - "consistently" applied, gives us a fighting chance at tackling some very difficult issues, and making some very difficult choices. Who knew?

In a word, I would say up there on the stage that I am not interested in ideological labels. I am interested in fashioning approaches that make sense in dealing with our nation's major challenges, and here are my ideas, and I hope that you will assess me on that basis, rather than by affixing a label on me.

Wake me up when he calls himself a "terminal conservative" or at least a "life-threatening" one.

Ok, let's all review our qualifications now:

"I'm more conservative."
"No, I'm more conservative."
"No, I'm the true conservative."
"No, I've always been a severe conservative."
"No, I will stand for true conservative principles in this election."

Jesus Christ, what the hell is this, a third-grade playground?

And that's why you'll never win a national Republican primary.

Don't forget, Romney first has to win the  nomination from these ideological wackos and right wing nut jobs that currently comprise a great deal the Republican base.

After winning the nomination, he can then gravitate skillfully back to the center, which is where this election will be won or lost.

With this stragegy, he will be able to attract independents and moderates, while at the same time maintaining the vast majority of the conservative voters, as they will not be voting for Obama.

The other aspect of this strategy, of course, is that a credible independent conservative candidate does not emerge.

A theory: this line was written by a 19-year-old campaign intern who either:
a) doesn't know that the word "severe" has negative connotations
b) is actually a liberal democrat who's interning with the Romney campaign either to get started in politics or because his parents are forcing him, and is intentionally sabotaging Romney's campaign in order to get revenge for making him sell his soul

Unless Romney knows a great wizard that has the ability to make the world forget everything this is impossible for him to do.

You overestimate the attention span of the American public.

Karl Rove and Co. got George W. Bush elected TWICE. Imagine what we can do with an articulate, tall, handsome candidate.
