That's Barack Obama.

Adam Smith's "Invisible Hand" has nothing to do with government. That's the free enterprise that Mitt Romney believes in.

Which countries has the invisible hand of the market told us to blow another $1 trillion on a pointless war with?

Your use of 'believes' is correct, because the Invisible Hand is at its heart a religious concept, despite the religion that it goes with not having really been a real thing.

No. The honor of being a big government Republican goes to Rick Santorum.

Now George W. Bush is Mitt Romney? You do realize you cannot blame everything on George W. Bush this time, right? Obama's record is Obama's record now.

"You know, when they forced Khruschev out, he sat down and wrote two letters to his successor. He said - "When you get yourself into a situation you can't get out of, open the first letter, and you'll be safe. When you get yourself into another situation you can't get out of, open the second letter". Well, soon enough, this guy found himself into a tight place, so he opened the first letter. Which said - "Blame everything on me". So he blames the old man, it worked like a charm. He got himself into a second situation he couldn't get out of, he opened the second letter. It said - "Sit down, and write two letters". "

Yeah.

You try running against Rick Santorum in a GOP primary...

Obama is opposed to gay marriage. Therefore Obama hates gays. Or is it not true that what is good for the goose is good for the gander?

There's opposing in a pretty much entirely incidental sense and then there is actively opposing to the point of calling for a Constitutional amendment banning the thing opposed.

I actually don't think he is- His moderation seems to be the best option as he wants a small effective state that does allow Individual liberty (relative to Santorum and Gingrich) and tolerance, and does not think the state needs to control peoples morals or too much of their income.

Don't get me wrong, Mitt say he is a social traditionalist, but really, despite his status as a LDS clergy and the fact he is trying to pander to the base, his actions seem to point to a man who wants to others live and let live.
I think he is the 3rd most Libertarian person to enter the Republican race after Paul and Johnson.

Aw Sad

To answer the question, yes. Romney is a big Government Republican.. He doesn't support individual liberty--well, maybe he does, but he doesn't say it. He supports what the Establishment wants him to support. Give me 1994 Mitt Romney and I'd say he's a small Government Republican. But now, he's a big Government Republican.

While Obama opposes gay marriage, he's obviously much more tolerant of it than Romney. Romney wants a constitutional amendment to revoke the marriage licenses of all gays in the country. Obama opposed Prop. 8.

Your logic invariably leads to the conclusion that Obama either hates or simply dislikes gay people. You cannot make the blanket statements "ROMNEY HATES GAYS" and "OBAMA LOVES GAYS" considering Obama's opposition to gay marriage.

The truth is probably more along the lines of "Barack Obama doesn't care about gay people." His administration's silence on the increasing rate of the spread of HIV/AIDS among men who have sex with men is telling. But he'll take gay people's votes, of course.

I don't think Obama particularly cares about gay people one way or the other. For that matter, I don't think Romney does either.

I do, however, think that Romney panders to people who hate gays, whereas Obama panders to a probably needless idea of moderate heroism on the subject.

The question presumes far too much principle.  Romney is not capable of being a "big government" or "small government" or any other sort of Republican except for a "MOAR MUNNY" Republican (and he'll even waver there - for a price).

President Obama has no problem with the rich deriving some safety and gain from a better America. What do you think he is -- Fidel Castro?

The Republican Party believes in Socialism for the Rich at the expense of everyone else.
