This question stems from the fact that a lot of liberals think of the Republican party as conservative wackos while I, myself, and probably many others here, see the Republican party as the party of Lincoln(Leadership and fighting racism), McKinley(making America into a Superpower), TR (Belief in a strong work ethic), and Reagan(economy and fighting and deafting the USSR).

The same symbols are true among the left. I could choose to see the Democrats as a party of far-left socialists, while someone in the party could see it as the party of FDR(WW2), Truman(Military power), JFK(Economy).

Any opinions?

No, not really.  The general impression of a political party is more or less what the majority of a group believes it to be, but the party itself is defined by its members, who do not change depending on what anyone believes of the party.

Yes, and No.

The Republican Party is comprised of both conservative wackos and people who have good leadership, fight racism, believe in American exceptionalism, a strong work ethic, and defeating Communism and tyranny.

The Democrat Party is comprised of both far-left socialist wackos, as well as people who share the view of a strong America and economic principles.

I've often said that the GOP is made up of both the absolute best people in this country along with the absolute worst.

I chose the GOP because I share a lot of common views with most Republicans.  I disagreed with Barry Goldwater on the Civil Rights Act, John Anderson on gun control, George W. Bush on stem cell research, George H. W. Bush on Somalia, and Pat Buchannan on free trade, but I genally agree with most Republican issues.

shouldn't the options in the poll be 'more' or 'less'?

"More or less" is a phrase that basically can be translated to something like "essentially".
