Yes, there's nothing to indicate that Pelosi is planning to step down.  But she's been House Democratic leader for a while now, and she's getting old.  If, after this November's elections, it looks like the Dems are unlikely to regain their majority any time soon, Pelosi may well call it quits.  Obviously, Hoyer would be the favorite to replace her, but he's even older than Pelosi, so I can't imagine he'll stay in the leadership for that many more years.  Xavier Becerra is another one who'll be eyeing a leadership position.

How about someone who has demonstrated a little more leadership?

I'm not sure that'd be the best thing for the caucus.  I mean... what has she done for the DNC?  She really hasn't been a driving force for the party--not even close to Howard Dean.

Do you like Schultz, or do you just prefer her to Pelosi?

So what has she done to piss off the White House?

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

I think he expects that she'll be a bad Minority Leader and make people keep voting Republican Congresses.

This is one of the funny lines.

The member also noted that she has clout with both the sizable New York and Florida delegations and with female colleagues.

Uh, have they looked at the Florida delegation?

Wasserman-Schultz would be a much better leader for the (D)s than Pelosi.

Beccera would be a vast improvement over Pelosi. Pelosi turns off indies and a sizeable chunk of moderate voters as well. As somebody who is a fiscal conservative but economically moderate I think Beccera understands the consequences if we don't get our fiscal house in order.

If Wasserman-Shultz is dem house leader she will be possibly be more polarizing than Pelosi I think.

I know Progressives love Pelosi which I will never understand but she "doesn't get it" politically in my opinion.

Becerra would work, as would Chris van Hollen. Hoyer is too old.

Ah, that'd make more sense. Tongue

One of the younger members of the current House Democratic leadership team is I think more likely than Hoyer, and Hoyer is vastly more likely than DWS. Look at Steve Israel if the DCCC exceeds expectations this year and Xavier Becerra in general. Chris Van Hollen too maybe but we must remember that Chris Van Hollen done goofed, even in the political environment of two years ago.

Van Hollen and Beccerra would definitely get it over Wasserman-Schultz. Even us Democrats don't care for her. As DNC Chair she really has done nothing at all. Terry McCaullife and Howerd Dean were great fundraisers, but she hasn't done anything to fundraise, campaign, or even strategize. We need to throw her out and hire Dean back or get someone else.
