And you call yourself a liberal? For shame, my friend Tongue

What? You would prefer for me to choose Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, and friends?

Plus, I said liberal. Not socialist.

ha fair enough...

I assume Redalgo's thinking they're all basically equivalent economically, so just pick the most socially liberal one.

I think Gary Johnson's pretty radically fiscally conservative. He was proposing to balance the budget this year--was it this year?--by cutting Government spending literally in half.

Even I think that's absolutely unacceptable.

Hey, SJoyce, why don't you hold a "convention," like what TNF is doing with the '72 Democrats?

At least in part, Sam, yes. I would rather the contest be over which political-economic paradigm to pursue, not whether social policies should be somewhat permissive or ethnocentric with a hint of repression. I actually consider capitalism less of a threat to individual rights, equality, and social justice than conservatism as pursued - no offense being intended - by the GOP's Christian right. And at least an Obama-Johnson contest would provide a clear political mandate on what sort of role government should assume in the years to come and how our debt ought to be addressed.

Now, if I was in politics I would say that your statement is completely false and that Gary Johnson has never supported cutting government spending in half. Since I'm not, it's 43% (which is how much would be necessary to balance the budget in 2013); if it's any consolation, it'd include large military cuts and a tax on marijuana.
