Barnes, I have no issue with the text.  However, would this not better serve as an amendment to the actual Cabinet act, rather than the SOAP?  Further, perhaps appointments for CJO and Senate vacancies should be addressed in our constitution, or at least, on a separate piece of legislation.  Perhaps this is unnecessary, but I'd like to hear your thoughts..

Subsection D contains a typo on my part, it should read:
D. Upon the expiration of debate time, the Assembly shall vote to confirm the nominee; a simple majority shall be required for approval.  In the event of a timetie, the vote shall be deemed to have failed.

I feel it would be easier to simply amend the SOAP, seeing as the primary purpose of this bill is to clarify the confirmation process, not to alter it. I can understand where we might need to have subsection E in its own piece of legislation, but I'll wait and see what the rest of the assembly thinks.

Does anyone besides Barnes and myself have an opinion on this matter?  An opinion on separating appointments for CJO and/or Senate into a different bill?  An opinion on this as an amendment to the SOAP, or the Cabinet Act?  An opinion at all?!?  Dear God, give me something Sad

I don't have a problem with the legislation.  Any organization problems that arise from this can be fixed with the wiki, so I don't think if it matters if the Cabinet Act itself is amended or not.

I'm not terribly concerned about whether it's an amendment to the SOAP, or cabinet act.  I would however, like to make CJO appointments and more importantly, Senate appointment procedure an amendment to the constitution.

Truthfully, all this does is clarify the confirmation process once it arrives to us, not the requirements for a nomination or anything. Now, as I've said, I'm open to removing section E.
