Mark E. Clayton is the "Democratic" candidate for the U.S. Senate election in Tennessee.

Larry McDonald was sort of the Mark Clayton of his time.

It'd be interesting to see what would happen if he was elected, vis-a-vis becoming a member of the Democratic Senate caucus.

After all, he only ran 8.67% behind Obama. I would have thought that the liberals would have supported the Green some more, but he only got 1.66%, with his best showings only being:

Davidson (Nashville)    3.56%
Knox (U of Tenn.)   3.55%
Anderson (next to Knox)   2.43%
Putnam (Tenn. Tech.)   2.13%

From what I read this guy won because the names of the candidates were listed in alphabetical order and people would just vote for the first name they saw (kind of like what happened with Alvin Greene too).
