1. It's not constitutional.
2. It's not economically feasible.  You can't just go on the gold standard without some way forcing inflation down, which means that people would have to take pay cuts and producers would have to lower prices.  It simply cannot work at the state level in a country like the U.S., and while theoretically it could work at the national level, it would require such authoritarian measures to make it practically completely impossible.

Insane and obvious protest, but I agree that it's entertaining and wish them the best. Next on the agenda: officially recognizing Chuck E. Cheese tokens as quarters.
