Fellow Midwesterners,

I believe it's time we had a constitution that is detailed, effective, and solves every situation that could occur. I believe that the current constitution, even with the fixes we have made, is obsolete. Anything you want to keep from the previous constitution, like the state names, or if you want to add to anything that may be coming (like the court name), please shout it out here! I hope this suitably fixes some of the constitutional issues we have.

- Your Governor,
Maxwell

I speak about this with idea with Lumine, I think it would be really interesting to have a "Supreme Court", one person because the region is too small and I think that Jayhawker would be the perfect choice for this post!

I think the region should revert to having a universal legislature, comprised of all Midwest citizens, as was the case before the creation of the Althing.

The universal legislature was the reason why the Midwest fell apart in the first place. I have no intentions of writing a constitution that would revert back to that.

The Constitution might need tuned a bit, but I don't think a completely new one is necessary. That being said, I'll take a look at it tonight and see if I can come up with any improvements. I do think some sort of hybrid should be formed between a universal and elected legislature, and look forward to discussing that in more detail soon. And while I agree that a specific position isn't needed for judiciary, some sort of system should be in place in case something ever does happen.

Hmmm... I think I see your point.

I will help write a big thing so we can fine tune whatevers in the current constitution. I do want reform of picking a regional Senator in case we need a replacement, because I don't want the Governor's pick to just be the final straw. I have some ideas for tune-ups that I think we can work on soon.

And yeah, probably a device that will send whatever legal issue to either the nearest next possible region or the federal court might work.

There will be a vote on that in August if the current constitution isn't changed.

I suggest we take our cues from the Pacific, dotting any i's and crossing any t's the SC may find. Certainly we should follow their example in abolishing all general non gameplay-related law.

We still have overhaul to make, but as I have discussed with a couple of people, the constitution as is will work if we make some changes. I will be going over these changes if some will help.

I disagree with all talk of taking cues from the Pacific. I think that is the absolute wrong direction to go in.

I am currently working on a couple of ideas and wanted to get some input. First of all, the Federal Government allows a Region to just appoint a Senator to fill the rest of the term. I do not believe the Governor of the Midwest should have that much power. Therefore, I am writing a clause that will do two things: If the Regional Senator is absent within 14 days, than the Federal position applies, if the Senator is absent outside of the 14 day rule, however, than the Governor's appointment would face an election against who ever is running.

I am also working on a recall/impeachment mechanism, as we don't seem to have that in our constitution.

I chatted this over with Tmth, who helped me come to the concensus that 14 days may be too short. I may go with his 30 days, but I am not entirely decisive on this issue. I will come back tomorrow with a general consensus on this.
