I'm thinking about putting it on ebay or Craigslist and buying a chair that's actually comfortable to read in.

$20?

Looks like something you could get for a few tens of bucks at Goodwill.  I used to get my furniture from the Dumpster - we called it 'Dumpster diving'.

$20 is what I had in my mind.  If I end up selling it, it will probably be around that amount.  My mom thinks it's worth nothing, but I disagree.

Well she's wrong - if you can sit on it its not worth nothing.  I mean why would someone bother to give it away to you?  For free you have to look in the trash.

I guess I'll use the opportunity to say, if by some chance someone here actually wants the chair, PM me and we'll work something out. Tongue

Hard to tell from the photo what condition the cushions are in or if t has any springs and whether they've sprung.  Unless you need to get rid of it in a hurry, you might want to make the asking price higher with an "Or Best Offer" clause attached.

Looks nice in the photo, but I don't need no stinking furniture. (Or even clean-smelling furniture.)  Even if I did need some, I expect delivery would be a hassle.

I'd say $20, and I would strongly encourage you to use Craig's list instead of eBay.  eBay simply isn't as good for selling furniture or anything that you don't want to ship.  The problem with Craig's list is that it can take a bit longer to sell because there's often a lot listed; however, keep re-listing it (or whatever they call it when they allow you to bump it up to the top, which is like once every 10 days... it'll all be included in the information when you list it), and it should sell.  I've never had something that I've listed on Craig's list that hasn't sold.

I'm leaning towards Craiglist.  I don't want to lose money by putting this up on eBay and not getting any bids or offers, and having to pay a user fee.  I'm also in no hurry to get rid of it, so I can wait a couple weeks.  Do you know if Craiglist charges for putting up items?

An important consideration, especially if pets, tobacco, or children have been in contact.

Dude, run it down to Goodwill, get a tax receipt and put in the value at $50 and give it to your momma so she can write it off.

$40-50, in my opinion. If in need of a sturdy chair I would start with an offer of $30.

Probably very over-priced.
