How likely is it that David Petreaus will be nominated by the Republican Party and be elected President? If so when and what will Petreuas' polices be?

You'd support him despite not knowing anything about his political views? Cool.

Yes, Xahar, I wouldn't take his political views into account if he ran.

No, I have no idea what his ideas are, but when I spoke of supporting him it's my longing for another Ike and an unbridled respect and worship of military men as a whole. It's my one true weakness for politicians. I Gotta support the war hero.

He's able military commander, but under all these circumstances he couldn't really help. I don't see how qualifications he have to be President.

And Republican Party will nominate some far right-wing nutjob in 2012

I was not sentinent politically in '04, as I was nine. So probably, considering what I know now and Bush's awful second term.

Same as my age? I guess there is another 13 year old interested in politics. Smiley

Anyway what about an election with two war heroes say Kerry vs. McCain?

Just turned 14, actually Smiley

And as for Kerry vs. McCain, I would support McCain because he is like a god to me. A McCAin Presidency 2001-2009 would have been excellent.

His support for the Iraq invasion and as much deregulation as possible suggest he would have made many of the same mistakes as Bush and his choice of Sarah Palin suggests he might have been no better at choosing who to surround himself with.

And if Gore had won? Remember much deregulation happened under President Clinton.

I'm of the opinion McCain would have been an excellent president, with a sad, but ultimately forgotten recession in 2008 with recovery in 2009.

By the esteemed Reilly.

http://johnreilly.info/mccain.htm

Though I doubt the break-up of political parties, McCain would have been a better and certainly more entertaining president then Ronald Reagan.

We don't know that, had he won in 2000, McCain would have governed the way he behaved during the election.  He was a critic of more than a few of Bush's policies, as well as the way the Wars were managed.  A McCain Administration from 2001-2009 would have probably gone much better than the Bush Administration.  Sarah Palin was not his first choice to be VP; Joe Lieberman was.  That pick was motivated by political necessity, a necessity that would not have existed if President McCain was trying to select his new Cabinet.
