And you know it's bad when you're barely leading someone named Preckwinkle.

I kind of wonder what type of person actually supports Rahm. He's equally hated by the left and right. I can see the type of Serious People who slavish over Andrew Cuomo liking him, but I doubt they're that common in Chicago. I guess the generic support of incumbency in municipal elections and name recognition.

Well he's basically the conservative candidate in the race at this point. So any Republicans in Chicago?

But he's so heavily associated with Obama and is just as hated on conservative blogs and the conservative media as progressive ones.

Low information voters who know little about him other than that he worked for Obama?

The Obama association is powerful in Chicago's black community, yes. Also, the fact that he is a Democrat sure helps.

In his last election he was most popular on the northside among wealthier white Democrats. I am guessing that any support that he maintains comes from there + the Obama link. Chicagoans don't vote against their incumbent often, so that's part of it, too.

Anyway, good riddance is right. He should retire.

I would be surprised if this shifted to I, or even R, in the next 8 years.
