Yes, the Hilltards and the TED CRUZ SEEN EATING TOAST IN IOWA idiots combined make it the worst place on the forum, bar none. (Although the Religion board is a close second)

^ Yes. Religion has a strong claim to being second-worst (muh liberal christianity), although Economics is also disappointingly bad since it's generally full of threads like WHAT IF WE ABOLISH JOBS or whatever.

So would you prefer Religion be full of anti-gay screeds or "REPENT OR BURN!" stuff instead of liberal Christianity?

At least it would be being honest were it full of anti-gay screeds or "REPENT OR BURN!" stuff, rather than this granola Christianity nonsense about how Jesus or the Old Testament God would totally caucus with the Congressional Progressive Caucus and chill with Alan Grayson or whatever.

Not to mention the religion board is kind of dominated by Christianity- it'd be nice to hear really in-depth discussion of other theologies.

I find it funny that the people complaining about Hillary supporters vastly outnumber the actual Hillary supporters.

Even if they're low in actual number, the aggressive, over-the-top nature of Hilltardism naturally provokes such a response.

Hiltards....I like that one, TNF Wink. Throw your principles under the bus and take a trademark out on that term.

Fair enough, but stop acting as if you're edgy contrarians for "going against the grain of the Forum consensus". Hating Hillary IS the Forum consensus.

Pretty close to being even, actually:

It has been my opinion and experience that until the midterms are over there's little accurate to discern about the upcoming presidential cycle. Speculations at this point fuel an interest that seems little different than the grocery store mags going on about Jay-Z and Beyonce. Given that I'm not expecting high quality on that board, let's check again in a year.

The tea leaves thread is good, but the rest of the board is abysmal.

Yes, the Hilltards and the TED CRUZ SEEN EATING TOAST IN IOWA idiots combined make it the worst place on the forum, bar none. (Although the Religion board is a close second)

Why does Liberal Christianity irritate you so much? If you read the text the New Testament is fundamentally a rather left wing text (collectivist, anti-materialistic, critical of the wealthy etc.) and the social conservative views Christianity has traditionally advocated have a weak basis in the text (ie. of the two anti-gay pieces, one is about buying prostitute boys and the other deals with orgies). Its easier to make a case for Jesus being a Socialist than a Conservative.
(of course he was neither).

Feel free to contribute to the religion board when you have anything of substance to say.  I know that it's far easier to just thumb your nose at every dissenting opinion or belief system without presenting any alternatives, but some of us want to have a frank discussion of these things without having half-witted fundamentalists set the debate on their own superficial terms.

Not to mention the religion board is kind of dominated by Christianity- it'd be nice to hear really in-depth discussion of other theologies.

Only six people contribute to it on a regular basis, and even that's a stretch.  If you don't like what we talk about or the way we talk about it, bring your own material.  No one's stopping you.

Liberal Christianity doesnt have anything to do with being left wing.
