Another election series!

We'll be starting in 1840 because it's the first election that I can create a map for on the Electoral College calculator. The same usual rules as my other election series apply here (no one after the point-of-divergence, which will be 1840 here given that its our starting point, will exist in this TL; vote totals will be adjusted downward (see below) for the sake of realism; players will get to vote for the House and Senate as well, etc, etc.). You have one day to select the Whig Party nominee, or if you think you'd be a Democrat during this time period, you have a chance to either renominate the sitting Vice President, Richard M. Johnson, or instead select Littleton Tazewell or James Polk to replace him (or nominate no one at all for Vice President by electing to abstain!).

Vote adjustment formulas, for future reference:

N*1/4: Anti-slavery political parties/independents
N*1/3: Left-wing (defined as to the left of the mainstream left-wing party) third parties (were not among top two by adjusted vote total in previous election)/non-incumbent independents
N*1/1.5: Non-left-wing third parties/non-incumbent independents
N*1/1.5: Mainstream left-wing parties

Should a party outdo their previous performance (that is, their performance under the adjustment formula), that formula will be lifted in the subsequent election. I have to thank the late wormyguy for coming up with these, as they're virtually indispensable in creating an at least somewhat realistic TL here.
