preppy ~ Educated White/WASP although it's not exact. OC is like 30% White so even though the White pop is certainly preppy the county as a whole isn't exactly. Preppiness is also an Eastern trait in my eyes.

Nantucket no question, especially during the summer.

Just look at all the large yet architecturally aesthetic and stylized colonial homes. Not to mention it had an extremely strong Romney - Biden swing which is very fitting for being preppy.

Fairfax, Arlington and Baltimore County have high concentrations of "preppy" types.

Maybe some SEC counties in the Deep South? Tuscaloosa, Athens and Lafayette (Oxford) come to mind.

Yeah for highest percentage I think any large metropolitan county is out. The DC or NYC suburbs may have lot of preps numerically but as a percentage they're going to be way less than Nantucket or any state flagship county south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Of course this presupposes prep as a clear category which it really isn't. There are plenty of vineyard vines wearers who do things that don't fit in the prep 50s archetype.

Definitely not Orange County. Large swathes of north Orange County are lower middle to working class and majority Latino.

I don't think even the Upper East Side or Midtown East (for the younger preppy demographic) has, say, Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard beat in preppiness. People underestimate the internal socio-cultural diversity of Manhattan neighborhoods (due to things like rent stabilization).

Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are far more preppy than SF & Suburbs. The rich people in the east coast are more likely to be old money.

I imagine this could be solved if you went school by school and assessed the percentage of students in choir, band, orchestra, theater (performing arts) and various other extracurricular clubs. The particular culture in the school is also important, like I don't imagine religious areas being as preppy.

I'd imagine high schools also scale down in preppiness as other electives increase in popularity. But definitely also, for my experience in choir I got my impression that the kids most into choir were more type A, who seemed wealthier, more extraverted, more goody two shoes, leaning nerdy, with more involved parents.

In my state, Bucks County, although if we narrowed it down to municipalities, I would go over to Swarthmore in Delaware County.
