Has anyone here realized that the September 11 attacks are now closer in time to the fall of the Berlin Wall than to the present day?

In the same vein, see this.

And in another couple of months, the fall of the Berlin Wall will be closer to the 1964 elections. And early next year the 1964 elections will be closer to the start of World War 1. And the start of World War 1 is already closer to Waterloo. And Waterloo is already closer to the Mayflower. And the Mayflower will be closer to Magna Carta in a decade. And Magna Carte is already closer to the fall of the Roman Empire, and.....

The publication of Gone With the Wind is closer to the fall of Atlanta to Sherman's army than now.

Cleopatra was closer to us in the present day than she was to the construction of the Pyramids.

Since I probably just learned to go on the toilet myself when the most recent of these events happened, I am not really feeling old because of this, no.

Cleopatra was closer to us in the present day than she was to the construction of the Pyramids.

This one I just realized blew my mind:

The first appearance of Sneakers O'Toole is closer to the 2000 election than the present day.

Has anyone here realized that the September 11 attacks are now closer in time to the fall of the Berlin Wall than to the present day?

In the same vein, see this.

Americans must have children pretty early, if the average new grandparent is younger than a 49-year-old guy. In Norway, I would guess the average age for such an event would be mid-late 50's.

Wow. 47 sounds very young for grandparents. I can hardly think of anyone I know that age who is one.

Granted, my view is slightly skewed as most of my acquaintances are relatively well-educated and/or from a city (these tend to have children later, of course) - but still I'm pretty sure there is a big difference between Western Europe and America in this regard.

I had thought of the time aspect of all these historical events before, so it doesn't shock me in any way. Still, some of it keeps feeling very weird now. The weirdest one of all is that for many people only a few years younger than myself, 9/11 is at best/worst only an "historical event". Feels strange.
