Could he be potentially a VP candidate in 2016 or a Presidential candidate in 2020? He has rising star potential, he won his primary very easily, and he's very presentable (no major gaffes I can think of), someone who could offset Rand Paul's fringe-ish appearance. Obviously his Medicare Part D support deters some (me included), but otherwise, he seems like a solid candidate for national office.

Obviously he's great, but I can't see him adding anything new to the ticket/bringing over new voters. Plus Rand Paul is almost certainly going to have a Neocon as his running mate.

He doesn't really add anything; he'll have barely any experience and he's from a solidly Republican state. He seems like someone cut out for a legislature, and I'm sure he'll be a fantastic addition to the Republican Senate Caucus, but I don't think he'll be a national candidate anytime soon.

While Sasse probably doesn't add much to the ticket, I could see him as a sleeper running mate. A Republican presidential nominee could find that an apparent "do no harm" type of option like Sasse would serve the national campaign well. Also, while a candidate like Rand Paul would probably benefit from having Sasse on the ticket, Sasse as a running mate could be a good counterweight to a more moderate nominee, since he would assure the base about the ticket while not automatically alienating the Independent/undecided voters.

Sasse has been rather adept at getting the Tea Party at his side, so you maybe right, but his actual views put him closer to the center of the GOP caucus rather than the right.

I would agree with you guys if Shane Osborn or Sid Dinsdale had won the Nebraska primary, but I disagree that Ben Sasse would just be a Nebraska Senator. He has potential on those outside qualities to make a future candidate for higher office. I could definitely see him as a future HHS Secretary under a Republican President, for example.
