Laxalt defied the rule of having Washoe as the ultimate bellwether. Seems like an absolute turnout disaster for the democrats, as KC stated. More people voted in Clark County in 2012 than in the entire state in 2014.

Apparently he's the first statewide candidate in modern times to win while losing both Washoe and Clark. Not bad.

Gardner lost Jeffco in the end as well. He also lost Quray by a lot, which used to be exactly with the State.

Bellweathers are not meant to be 100%, particualrly when turnout drops out.

Corbet could have won in 2010 without Bucks and Chester, because he won Allegheny. Candidation regionalism can play a role as well.

Meh. I've always seen Larimer County as a more accurate bellweather for Colorado. Gardner narrowly won it while Beauprez narrowly lost it to Hickenlooper.

Also, Bill Clinton lost Jefferson County to Bush Senior in 1992, but won Larimer and the state of Colorado. Ever since Colorado became a swing state, it has voted for the candidate that won Larimer.
