For one thing, Kasich's opponent imploded, which explains his big margin more than anything. Brown won big, despite having an opponent that didn't implode or make any gaffes.

CA is also a heck of a lot more Democratic than OH is Republican.  I'd say that explains his margin as much as anything.

I'd say Kaisch is a lot stronger than Jerry Brown-I never understood the hype around Brown

Brown is the only sane voice in a state of irresponsibility and insanity.

Not really. Mitch Daniels could have easily won the Presidency in 2012 if it wasn't for his wife's personal issues making him hesitant to run.

Kasich is the Republican I'm most afraid of.

Yup, hopefully he bows out or gets crowded out by the other establishment candidates.

Kasich brings classic Midwestern values, like Walker, Kasich, and Snyder, but I don't know if he can raise the money with Romney looking likely to run again.

Never thought about the comparison but Kasich and Brown do use similar rhetoric now that I think about it. Of course Kasich looks better on paper because his state is in way better fiscal health than Brown's state is.

California is in way better shape than in 2010.

Nah, Kasich is still too far to the right, and nor does he have senile dementia...

I thought he meant too liberal to get his party's nomination.

I feel like a thrice-elected Democrat being elected to a landslide fourth term in California isn't as newsworthy as a Republican breaking the 60% barrier in a swing state like Ohio.

It wasn't. Brown hardly campaigned and still won essentially 60% against a moderate opponent. He probably could've pulled almost 65% if Donnelly was the opponent.
