Seven of the country's eleven most populous states have a candidate for the 2016 Republican nomination. This count includes potential candidates like Walker and Christie who haven't formally declared but seem likely to do so at some point. I didn't include Ehrlich (MD), Gilmore (VA), or King (NY), all of whom come from one of the twelve most populated states. Is it normal for large states to make up such a large percentage of candidates?
