Red and Blue appear to be back the front with political websites.

On CNN, republican is red.

I believe the site predates the standardization of the colors in 2000 that resulted from constant media coverage of Florida's situation.

Because red is ually the color of center-left parties all over the world and it was even used in the US until I think the 1990s, when the media decided to use Blue for the Dems and Red for the GOP.
