This thread is about the US, and "fall" has been used for the season in English for over 400 years. No need to be pedantic.

I kid, in fact "Fall" conjures a more poetic image than the clunky "Autumn".


If unis don't reopen in September, tens of thousands of students will doutbless ask for a deferment. The shortfall would be in the billions, and could break many institutions.

It'll be at least eight years. If it takes a year to make a vaccine, and we can create 1 billion doses a year, that means it takes seven years to inoculate the entire population. Until then, it won't be safe to do anything but remote learning.
