Hope she will be defeated in Republican primary. Wyoming is one of the few states, where sane republicans still exist, and even can win a primary...

She'll go down in flames if she runs.  Aside from any bridges she burned with her kamikaze run against Enzi, she has three major problems that she'll have to overcome to even have a shot of winning.

1) She didn't seem to be a very good fundraiser when she ran for Senate despite all the connections one would expect her to have through her father.  This is probably the easiest of the challenges for her to overcome since Wyoming is a pretty cheap state to run ads in and she will probably raise more money simply by virtue of not running against a popular and inoffensive incumbent, but it is still worth mentioning.

2) This is Wyoming and there are inevitably going to be plenty of other Republicans who are interested in an open house seat, some of whom will likely have far better connections to the state political establishment and/or simply be far more experienced campaigners.

3) Most importantly, while Wyoming is a very Republican state it doesn't appear to be one that likes bomb-thrower types.  Look at who it has elected: Senator John Barrasso (very right-wing, but a pretty calm, low-key, and respectful guy from what little I've read about him), Senator Mike Enzi (again, very conservative, but low-key and fairly anonymous), Governor Matt Mead (who seems to have a pretty good relationship with WY Democrats and has even strongly supported Medicaid expansion).  What's more, Mead won his 2014 primary by about 23% despite facing two tea-party primary opponents, one of which was from a state-wide elected official.  Even Cynthia Lummis was extremely low-key for a member of the Freedom Caucus.

Compare that to Wyoming's most recent bomb throwers who have run for office: Cindy Hall, Liz Cheney, and Barbara Cubin.  Cubin, Lummis' predecessor in the House, was a always extremely weak incumbent and nearly lost the general election in 2006 and chose not to run for re-election in 2008 because it was clear that she'd lose to the Democratic candidate.  For the sake of argument, we can discount her since the tea-party wasn't a thing yet and Cubin was always (to put it mildly) extremely eccentric.  However, Liz Cheney's Senate campaign against Mike Enzi went absolutely no where and Enzi didn't even break a sweat.  Lastly, Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction and 2014 tea-party candidate for Governor Cindy Hall finished a very distant third in her attempt to primary Mead.

TL;DR: Cheney's biggest problem is that she's a bomb-thrower in a state that has consistently rejected that brand of Republicanism in statewide races when given a viable alternative in the GOP primary.

What a tragedy it would be if we lose Walter Jones this cycle but get Liz Cheney in Congress.

Here's to hoping this causes the resurgence of the Wyoming Democratic Party.

Ya, and wouldn't she be one of the first gay republican office holders?

If she ends up winning, this will be one of the worst swaps of the cycle. Lummis was one of the better congressmen/women out there, Cheney will predictably be one of the worst.

Remember, Liz Cheney is the one who basically disowned her sister to get that sweet, sweet anti-gay vote.

Remember, Liz Cheney is the one who basically disowned her sister to get that sweet, sweet anti-gay vote.

Which is why Rob Portman is being primaried because he didn't throw his gay son under the bus to win the bigotry vote.

Why does Wyoming have so many crazy Republican female politicians? I mean, Barbara Cubin making penis-shaped cookies and handing them out to male colleagues while serving in the state legislature sounds like something out of a porno. I actually liked Cynthia Lummis, though. God help us if Darth Vader's evil spawn wins that primary. Surely, the Republicans have to have another candidate with their bench.

Whom do we have for our side? Gary Trauner or Dave Freudenthal would be great candidates, but still a steep climb in ruby red Wyoming where the Republican candidate will always start with an advantage.
