I was noticing this the other day. I'm a white-collar professional (actuary) with a bachelor's degree, so naturally I work with mostly other white-collar professionals with bachelors' degrees.

I was at lunch with four of them one day and one happened to mention how much she hates Trump. So I very quickly found out I was sitting with two other Republicans who support Rubio, a Democrat who plans on crossing over and voting Rubio if he is nominated, and a guy who is almost forty who never votes.

Rubio's support is concentrated among the college-educated, so it's not surprising, and given the demographic nature of Trump's support, it isn't terribly surprising that I know relatively few Trump supporters and can't think of a single one who I'd say is likely to actually vote.

The question, to me, isn't whether or not Trump supporters exist; the question is whether or not they'll vote.

This is hilarious. It's like they're trying to personify the "everyone I know voted for McGovern!" trope.

That's so weird. Why?

A few Democrats in my family are gonna do the same thing. There are Democrats that don't like Bernie's economics and think Hillary is corrupt and power hungry.

This sort of anecdotal evidence is as reliable as when people say that everyone they know is voting for a particular candidate.
The piece isn't about how Trump voters don't exist, but what it means that the party activists don't know them.

The funny thing is, to me it seems like everyone I come across hates trump. But of course a few hundred people is nothing but a drop in a bucket. Lol

Everything is possible. I still think that Rubio will be the nominee and I also think it’s possible, that Trump comes in third in IA.
Conventional wisdom like this may very well prove right.  Trump can't be nominated unless the establishment goes along with it.  We have seen some establishment movement in his direction this month.  But that might be part of the plan to get him out of the race.

One of the things that I've always wondered is if there is a bit of trolling going on with the general public when it comes to polling. How many people who tell pollsters they're voting for Trump, whether ironically or not, actually intend to vote for him? Or how many of them pretend/tell pollsters/go to his rallies to be cool because his candidacy is really a pop culture phenomenon.

Isn't this what everyone said about Jesse Ventura after he won the gubernatorial election in Minnesota?

Yes, because there were plenty of voters who made up their mind for him in the last days before the election. My parents were in that category.

I've met quite a few Trump voters in IL. They aren't the type that show up at political events, so they can be invisible to political reporters. For example I spoke with someone who was collecting signatures at a grocery store for another Pub candidate for pres. Lots of people turned him down saying they were only for Trump.

I hope what I am suspecting is true to be actually true, that a lot of people troll the pollsters and aren't actually support Trump.

What about all those showing up at his rallies? I don't think that his lead is false, although I have said that he has reached his ceiling (for now) at about 40%. This could rise in a two person race. If it ever comes down to a two person race he could reach 50%-55%. Cruz could beat him in a two person race, but I don't think that it will come down to Cruz and Trump.
