Let's say Trump kicks his teeth in at the next debate like Christie did.
Or Christie endorses Kasich and just goes on a whirlwind tour with the sole aim of taking down Rubio.
Does the establishment stand by its man or jump to Kasich?

I believe that the Establishment will crack the whip for Rubio.  Christie will be done in politics if he bucks this edict, as will anyone else.  I guarantee you that Kasich is being pressured right now to endorse Rubio.

Flopping in the debate wasn't fatal to Rubio.  He finished 5th in New Hampshire, but Trump was a runaway winner.  It wasn't as bad as first feared.  The Establishment is All In with Rubio.  If he flops in debate, they're stuck with him.  If he finishes 2nd or 3rd, there's always superdelegates.  Rubio isn't going to win the nomination without getting ugly and heavy-handed (or the Establishment getting ugly and heavy-handed on his behalf).

I think they've put all their eggs in his basket. If his last gaffe didn't sink him, I don't think there's much else he could do. The media won't let him sink too far. He's the golden boy.

Unpledged/super delegates are something like 2 or 3 percent of all delegates on the republican side. It's not the kingmaker it is for the dems.

Rubio did better in the pre SC debate, got the gov's endorsement and Trump was still a runaway winner.

If this happens then the establishment will support TRUMP.  Kasich and Cruz aren't viable options.

Rubio should worry about Cruz in the next debate, desperate man like Christie and he will be out there trying to land haymakers.

I'm not sure it matters if Rubio doesn't plan on winning anywhere anyway. He's playing the long game for a brokered convention.

It's likely Rubio would drop out at that point.

Rubio is an extremely mediocre candidate.

He's got to win somewhere to get enough delegates to matter.  Mo Udall never won anywhere, and it cost him.

Trump won all the delegates in South Carolina with 33% of the vote.  Winning becomes imperative for Rubio, and soon.

That's what we have Kasich for.

Then likely Cruz becomes the last best chance to stop TRUMP.  Kasich is just too much of a regional candidate to be more than a running mate this year or the frontrunner for the 2020 nomination.
