Is Donald Trump trying to lose?

I think he is. He is literally putting swing-state level efforts in CA and NY. Just when the GOP started to rally around him and his poll numbers started to increase, he just had to screw up by making those racist comments against Judge Curiel. It's like he made those comments just to make his poll numbers plummet. There are plenty of other examples too.

It seems like Trump is trying to alienate voting groups (Hispanics, other minorities, women, etc) that the GOP needs to well with in order to lose. I don't think he wants to win.

Here's proof that Trump is trying to lose:

FTR, I don't think that Donald Trump is a secret Democratic agent.

However, I think that his whole campaign is just a scheme to launch his own TV empire, and the article I posted above is proof of this. It makes perfect sense. I think the purpose of his campaign was to develop a huge fanbase/cult mostly consisted of working-class whites who are staunchly anti-immigrant and xenophobic who haven't "had a voice in a long time" (to quote the article). Trump knew that there was large section of the GOP who was sick and tired of the Republican establishment and candidates like Jeb Bush for being too liberal on immigration, but didn't have a voice in the party.

Now that Trump has developed a huge fanbase, his TV empire is much more likely to succeed. His TV empire will now get a lot of viewers and fans, and he could potentially make a lot of money off this. He could make millions, maybe even billions, off this.

If Trump didn't run for president and decided to start a TV empire, his TV network would've almost certainly failed because he wouldn't have had a huge fanbase consisting of millions of people (like he does now)

I think Trump's trying to lose.

I doubt that this is the case, but burning a major political party and the American conservative movement to the ground to promote a TV network would be equal parts repulsive, saddening, and slightly amusing.

What is this for a question? TRUMP wants to be president. And as far as I know, he released a list a few weeks ago which states he targets. Some blue states like Minnesota and Maine were in it, but not California. TRUMP is just running a different kind of campaign, because he's no standard candidate.

So he's guaranteed to win then?

For a short time I subscribed to the Jar-Jar theory of Trump, that his buffoon act was a long con, and he'd pivot and look like a genius.

Now I realize he's just a buffoon.  He really is what you see.  And he really believes he will win.

But at no point did I ever subscribe to the theory that he was trying to throw this election.

Of course he's not trying to, otherwise he would have succeeded much earlier.

You're correct when you say that Big Don is succeeding with what he wants. Therefore, he'll win Tongue
