New and powerful Takei video takes to social media with very good Spanish, reaching out to Hispanics in the U.S. and especially those in swing states (sub-titles included).

That was absolutely awesome !!!
Lengthy, but it told Takei's personal story and compared it to what trump can/will do.
Love it !
Thanks for sharing it.

If you have any Spanish speaking friends or family, please share this story/link with them.

As much as I detest Donald Trump, I can't say I like it when people use the "vote for Hillary because Trump is terrible" line. It just feeds into the idea that you have to hold your nose to vote for her and no TRUE PROGRESSIVETM would ever vote for her under any other circumstances. And as much as we need every vote we can get, that's a surefire way to hurt turnout and down-ballot races.

Quite frankly, it's very annoying that the nominee deserves every member of the party's votes.

1) So should we lie and say that Hillary is the most thrilling, credibly progressive candidate ever?  I'll start brewing the Kool-Aid.

2) "That's a surefire way to hurt turnout and down-ballot races." Or we could just go the direct, desperately needed long-term route of permanently convincing Democratic flakes that voting in down-ballot and midterm races is always critically important regardless of the top of the ticket, and that they need to grow up and commit to participating in elections to select the best possible choice even if no choice thrills them and recognize that change doesn't happen all at once.

If LBJ's anti-Goldwater campaign taught us anything, it's that fear is one of the most powerful ways to drive people to the polls.  You don't necessarily have to be enthusiastic about the person you are voting for, or even "like" him or her, if you think the alternative would pose an imminent threat to you and your family.  I have no doubt that, in this election, there will be a high number of Latinos who aren't crazy about Hillary, but will still vote for her because Trump's proposed mass deportation policy, if realized, would directly impact people they know.

I get what you're saying, and yes, Hillary's campaign shouldn't just be about how horrible Trump is. At the same time, some people are never going to like Hillary, no matter how she is sold to them, and the only way to get some of them to vote for her is to show them that Trump is much worse. It's not ideal, but sometimes, the stakes are simply too high not to use negative campaigning.

Yup, best start preparing the Kool-Aid right now. Aside from her belief that she's entitled to the presidency, what is the case for electing Hillary Clinton? Yup, you guessed it: "vote for Hillary because Trump is terrible". Yes, it's fairly pathetic that folks are asked to hold their nose, but I don't think there's a whole lot more to motivate Hillary Clinton backers. But we'll see what kind of case is made at the DNC.

Stay the course.

Hillary Clinton intends to keep up the good work of Barack Obama. The question is whether she is like the Obama of 2009-2010 who has two cooperating Houses of Congress, the Barack Obama of 2011-2014 who had a split Congress, or the Obama of 2015-2016 with a hostile Congress  with both Houses resisting everything that the President wants.

Republicans need to recognize that Barack Obama is an effective president under the circumstances before they can recover from what could well be a wave election to their detriment. They need start by recognizing that Obama and Reagan have nearly-identical foreign policies (Obama does what Ronald Reagan got away with, which is altogether good).
