He was one of the more interesting figures in Christianity's history.

I admit that I am no expert on this man, so I would be interested in seeing an analysis by some of you.

Many of his ideas are not accepted today but yet he seems to be a key figure in the history of Christianity.

     Learning about him and some of the odder views of him and his followers helped demonstrate to me the falsity of the conventional wisdom that Western Christianity is Aristotelian and Eastern Christianity is Platonist. The biggest thing I recall of his works that made me scratch my head was him saying that the other 11 apostles only received the keys to one Heaven but St. Peter received the keys to all of the Heavens.
