Which Republican do you think has the best shot of making it into the general election? I would say either Kevin Faulconer or Steve Poizner, with Peter Thiel maybe a wildcard pick? My preferred pick is Kristin Olsen, but she is basically unknown statewide and hated by the rank-and-file for being a #NeverTrumper.

Faulconer. But even he will lose to a Democrat if there will be one in general election phase.

I just want Republicans to have somebody in the runoff for both Governor and US Senate, even though they'd both be hopeless, since if not, it could cost them a few House seats.

Peter Thiel is out. Faulconer is probably the most likely to make it to a general election. I'm guessing one of the Senate or Gov races will have a D vs. D general while the other is D vs. R. Either way, a Democrat will win both.

Falcouner would probably make it to the general, as he is popular and acceptable enough.

He isn't going to win though.

I hate the Top 2 primary we have in CA. I almost abstained in the Senate race but ended up voting for Sanchez because I knew Harris would win anyway. Even if a Republican candidate loses the GE I still want to have a real choice on the ballot.

Btw I think Faulconer or any other strong GOP candidate could win under the perfect circumstances. Neel Kashkari got 40% for Governor against Brown and he was a total unknown running against a popular incumbent.

Turnout was low and Brown didn't campaign for himself at all! Brown would've put Sandoval and Haslam to shame otherwise.

If Faulconer doesn't get in, I predict a D-on-D race.

The California Republican Party will be unable to field a candidate in the Trump era for the gubernatorial race.

It'll come down to Newsom vs. some other Democrat. Newsom is the favorite and I find it unlikely that he loses.

Faulconer said he is not running, and without him it will be D-D probably...
