Please comment your positions on issues, history or planned career, any special attributes, and anything else that might be relevant to running for office. The people of Atlas (hopefully) will determine where we think you should  where you should and let you know.

I am a largely retired lawyer with too much time on my hands who lives in a small town. Any ideas? Smiley

Would you consider yourself a moderate or liberal or conservative?

Very much a centrist. Temperamentally, on most issues, I like to try to find common ground to get something done, that most are reasonably satisfied with, as opposed to one side getting all of the marbles. I really, really dislike how toxic the public square has become. It's just awful! Sad

Moderate democrat, Jewish, city kid, etc. I like to think you all know enough about me to determine this.

I think you could easily be elected to congress in a New York Swing district as either a Republican or a Democrat, whichever you think is best and I encourage you to run!

Big on cultural diversity, economic populism paired with moderate social liberalism, suburban upbringing.

Let's see.

Civilly libertarian, generally against gun control, economically left-wing, anti-corruption, foreign policy dove.  Rural upbringing.  Maybe Vermont or Montana.  Or that state with the angry women.

Maine, Minnesota, and Alaska would be my best bets.

I just want to point out the "moderate Democrats" here are WAY more liberal than the elected moderate Republicans (they claim aren't moderate) are conservative, LOL.

Typical Progressive Democrat, marginally to the left of Hillary Clinton. A very clear Seattleite in terms of politics and personality. A strong emphasis on foreign policy, and a former intern with the US Embassy in Moscow, I speak French, Spanish, and Russian with varying degrees of fluency and I know a bit of Standard Arabic. I am a strong believer that the US should take an active role in world affairs, but should also avoid sliding down the path of non-stop interventionism and world policing. Theoretically, I'm a moderate neorealist - i.e. structural constraints determine the behavior of sovereign actors above individual leaders or popular will, and different states and cultures will respond more or less identically to similar incentives and stimuli.

So... not ideal for public office, but I can definitely think of a lot of appointed government jobs I'd gladly take.

Fun Fact, I have family who met Mao Zedong and Ho Chi Minh, so you never know Vietnam or China. In seriousness, I have no fycking idea.

Well, I'm a young elitist college-educated white Jewish bisexual male liberal with libertarian tendencies and a strong superiority complex, so Connecticut seems like a perfect fit.

Considering that very few Republicans support gun control, are pro-choice, or are pro-gay marriage, this is wholly untrue

Collins, Kirk, Murkowski, Baker, Sandoval, etc. are REGULARLY derided as nothing but right wingers who put on a moderate image even though they all stray from conservative orthodoxy way more than I'm imagining you do from the Democratic platform.  What are your positions that distinguish you from a standard liberal Democrat like Hillary?

Hmm... I'm pretty sure those Republicans are generally accepted as moderates. I'd vote for Murkowski if I lived in Alaska because I'd rather have a guaranteed sane person indefinitely than have 6 years of Begich followed by a trueTM conservative. It's people like Kasich who just happen to be the most moderate of the 17 presidential candidates, but are still pretty darn conservative in their own rite that will get that kind of treatment from the left.

President of the United States.

You're certainly more qualified than a former serious contender DWPERRY.
