From what I understand, the EC was put in place to ensure the smaller states wouldn't be suppressed by the larger and more populous states. Which is fair.

A question: If the EC were reformed to be 'one state, one vote' - with the system of whoever wins the state also wins that states one vote, would that harm any of the smaller states? Would it be an acceptable compromise? You'd need to win 26+ of the states to win, and that keeps both the right of the states intact while the popular vote could be used mainly for record keeping/demographic info.

The electoral college already was a compromise. This would just be giving the small states everything.

So Wyoming's ~230,000 voters have the same power as California's 11,000,000+? Ya, no thanks...

I don't know why anybody bitches about large states being more influential in the age of social media and internet advertising.  The people in California see the same internet ads that people in Wyoming see.

The question is whether one man = one vote or...

...instead, politicians should suck up to anyone who lives in WI, MI, PA, FL, NC, NH, AZ, MN, NV, ME at the expense of everyone who lives in the other 40 states.
