Manchin, Donnelly, and Heitkamp. Though, I'd give them a <1% chance each of doing so.

I don't think any of them, but I think there's a better chance of Manchin switching than anyone else.

There actually has been a rumor that Tammy Baldwin is likely to announce a switch before the new Congress is sworn in.

I think, after Warner wins reelection in 2020, he will become a Republican in his final term. His predecessor, also a Warner, was a liberal Republican. I know Mark Warner is closer to Schumer than he is to McConnell, but I mean, if the Democrats go in a more Keith Ellison direction I can see him switch in protest. Tongue

Actual liberal Republicans like Jacob Javitts or Fiorello H. La Guardia are much better than most Democrats. What people call liberal Republicans, not so much.

Warner's a moderate, but I doubt he's so disgusted by progressive politics that he switches parties completely.

Manchin's the only one. Everyone else is too far to the left to survive an R primary. They'd get reverse Arlen Specter'd.

LOL this can't be true. The first openly gay Senator isn't going to become a Republican.

You do know I was being funny, and imitating ERM64man. I thought it was pretty clear that I was just being sarcastic. I know that Mark Warner obviously joined he Democratic Party for a reason, like John McCain joined the Republican Party.

I agree that it is extremely unlikely she will switch, but not because she IS a lesbian. She won't switch because she is quite thoroughly liberal.

As I said on the other thread, switching parties these days is political suicide. None will.
