Well I obviously know that this is beyond my scope as a non-resident.
I encourage a citizen to put an end to this madness as this precedent is dangerous for democracy.
Peter for some reason I am not quite catching on to what your tryingn to say here. What are you trying to say? That it was illegal for me to excerise the line item veto?
Please indicate where it even begins to suggest that you have a line item veto. Also, in the history of the world there has never been a line item veto on everything, just on items of spending.
Consider for a moment the following bill that your Assembly could hypothetically pass:
Governor's Emergency Powers Bill
1. The Governor has power to suspend habeas corpus in the Northeast Region.
2. The Governor has power to constitute military tribunals to try crimes against the Northeast Region.
3. This Law shall only have effect during times of actual invasion or public rebellion.
Under this Line Item Veto power you could line item veto clause 3, thus giving you a pretty insane amount of power all of the time.
My point is that a line item veto power of this form gives the Governor the ability to radically alter the intent of a bill after its has left the legislature, and can even turn the intent of the legislature on its head.
